New York based Japanese jazz singer, Mamiko Taira has been always a cloud pleaser. Author of “the Color of Water,” James McBride describes her “She is the kind musicians love to play with and audiences love to appreciate… she is a standout…” Her mentor, Mark Murphy quotes “She is a talent in the art of vocal jazz.”

She continues  to perform in New York vicinity, and just concluded her engagement on Mondays at NB Lounge at the Lombardy Hotel run since 2009.  Currently she is preparing for her album recording shceduled in the late September 2011, and expecting to release it in Spring of 2012 as the piano/vocal duo album. *********************************************************** 平　麻美子　（たいらまみこ） フィラデルフィアのテンプル大学にてジャズを専攻し在学時代からプロとして活動を始める。卒業後は、NYに活動の拠点を移し、NYの老舗ジャズクラブBlue Noteなどにも出演。2002年度のJazzConnect・Vocal Competion部門にて3位入賞。翌年には、ジェームス・マクブライド（「母の色は水の色」著者、作曲家、サキソフォニスト）のグループの一員として全米ツアーに参加。マクブライドに「ミュージシャンが心から一緒に演奏したいと思うシンガー、そして、観客は心からその歌に感動してしまう、そういう歌い手」と言わせる程、平麻美子の柔らかで包み込むような声と音楽に対する自然なアプローチは、聴く側だけでなくNYのプロ演奏家達までをも魅了している。

先頃、２年半続いたミッドタウンにあるNB Lounge at the Lombardy Hotelのレギュラーを終え、現在、アルバムのレコーディングの準備中。例年通り、秋の帰国ライブは、今年は11月に予定されており、現在、11/4（金）六本木アルフィー、11/6（日）甲府アルフィー、11/8（火）珈琲美学、11/12（土）お茶の水ナルが決定している。
